SUMMARY:Introduction to Kintsugi with Clara (19 June morning)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_custom_heading source="post_
 title" font_container="tag:h3|text_align:left" use_theme_fonts="yes" el_cl
 ass="main_head"][vc_column_text css=""]\n\n\n\nLearn the Japanese art of k
intsugi - repair for broken ceramics. Spend a relaxed few hours with likem
inded folk\, immersed in the processes\, tools and materials of kintsugi.
You will be supported to complete a repair using epoxy\, coated with tradi
tional natural Japanese Urushi (tree sap) lacquer and finished to a stunni
ng gold-hued shine with fine brass powder.\n\nWHAT TO EXPECT\n\nThis works
hop is suitable for complete beginners. All materials for the workshop\, a
nd hot drinks are included in the price.  If you wish to bring a piece to
work on\, it needs to be small (under 20cm diameter)\, with a simple brea
k\, in just two or three pieces and one or two small chips\, and an open s
hape such as a plate\, dish or shallow bowl rather than something with a t
ighter opening such as a cup or jug. If you have a piece you’d like to b
reak\, bring it unbroken to the workshop. If you aren’t sure if your pie
ce is suitable please do send me a picture and she’ll let you know. Othe
rwise\, suitable pieces will be available for you to choose from on the da
 y. Or consider attending multiple workshops at a reduced rate.\n\nABOUT TH
 E MATERIALS\n\nWe will be working with epoxy glue\, epoxy putty\, urushi a
nd brass powder.  Urushi is a natural lacquer made from the sap of the Ch
inese lacquer tree Toxicodendron vernicifluum and we will be using it as a
finishing layer and adhesive for the brass. Brass is beautiful for decora
tive items but is not food-safe. For a finish that can be used in contact
with food\, you can simply leave off the brass - urushi lacquer works well
as a final layer and is available in glossy red-brown or black (you can s
ee examples on Clara's website or instagram). Urushi is completely food-s
afe when fully cured. However\, in it’s uncured state it can be highly i
rritant to some people if it comes into contact with their skin\, causing
reactions similar to poison ivy. Please wear long sleeves and leg covering
 . Gloves are provided.\n\n\nAge restrictions: 16+\n\n\nDate: Friday 19 Jun
 e 2026\nTime: 10:00-13:00 (3 hours)\nCost: £30/£50/£70\n\nFor more info
