Ines Sacof (b.1999) is a Bristol-based metal worker, ceramicist and photographer. Her on-going ceramic project ‘Live for me the same way I Live for you’ explores her Jewish ancestry, destiny, animism and personal folklore. Monumental white forms first inspired by a collection of 19th century antique furniture that migrated with the family, now take form from the gothic calligraphy of her ancestors coffee business ‘Zuntz Kaffee’. As well as from the initials of ancestors. Through hand building with slabs of clay, these pieces serve as peaceful symbols and preservation of familial histories. She uses a similar technique and style when creating welded etched steel sculptures.
Sacof is also a photographer documenting the moment in analogue and using an i-phone. She creates nostalgic imagery of her time. In her most recent installation ‘Don’t Lose Me’ exhibited in ‘At The Edge of The Centre’ at SET, London a collection of soft coloured i-phone photographs from the dance formed a glowing circle on 5 metal music stands.
