Francesca Zadra (b.1999) is a mixed media artist focusing on woodwork entwined with textiles. She completed her studies at the University of Brighton in 2022, with a Bachelor Degree in Textile Design followed by a First Class Honours Master in 3D Design and Craft.

Her creative practice imagines playful sculptures influenced by childhood tales and memories, integrating elements of folk art to create narrative installations. In the construction of the sculptures, Francesca uncovers traditional techniques utilising hand tools and retaining the material’s organic rawness.

As someone who grew up in the Italian Alps, she has always been conscious of our effect on the planet. This has informed her art practice throughout, as well as nurtured and grown her creative outlook for pattern, colour and texture.

“Coexistence” embodies Francesca’s exploration of humanity’s relationship with nature. In 2023, she embarked on Art Residencies and Workshops in Mexico, collaborating with local communities. Through the use of foraged materials and integration of traditional regional heritage, Francesca created interactive installations inviting viewers to reimagine a new dialogue with the natural world.
